About River Cottage

Hugh moved into the original River Cottage in Dorset in 1998, beginning his countryside journey by growing and rearing some of his own food. Since then, River Cottage has evolved and developed, but it continues to stand for the same core principles of food integrity and the enjoyment of local, seasonal, and organic produce.

These values underpin everything River Cottage does, and it’s always about Food to Inspire Change!

Now based at Park Farm near Axminster, River Cottage is home to the Cookery School, seasonal dining feasts, weddings, private events, and an on-site café. The courses draw inspiration from the original River Cottage philosophy, offering hands-on experiences in foraging, curing, fermentation, gardening, bread making, butchery, and more.
